The northern coast of Lake Michigan is along Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Highway US2 follows this shoreline through small towns, dunes and forests. The lake is sometimes visible along the drive with beautiful sandy coves and rocky bays. “Northern Inlet” is a short section of shoreline where there are small inland ponds surrounded by pines. The mirror like pond became my inspiration reflecting both the sky and trees, with a glimpse of the larger Lake Michigan beyond. The state is surrounded by large lakes, with grand vistas. Though I am also inspired by the intimate spaces of nature that reflect the wonders of Michigan.
