Last summer, while on a painting trip in Leelanau County, my artist friend and I stopped the car in it's tracks to take note of this tree line of poplars. The windbreak went quite far across the field. Wildflowers were growing in the field and the sky was picture perfect with large white clouds. The best part was the feeling of space as the hill rolled up and over and the diagonal shadows created a movement that leads the eye to the low horizon.
